Rangnick to Manchester United makes me scared

Ralf Rangnick as Manchester United interim + a 2 year consultancy role is a perfect appointment.

Firstly, I'm really glad that United didn't wait it out with Carrick and then potentially offer him a more long term deal - I talk about this briefly in an article that I'll post next week but in short; Carrick's lack of managerial experience is not something that the club want full time.

I think that Rangnick is fully aware of his role: 6 months to steady the ship with no desire to manage the team further after that. It seems United have slightly altered their demands as Rangnick flew in at the start of the week but couldn't decide on a deal then. Though now they seem to have reached an agreement.

Having this man as an eventual consultant for the club is an excellent choice, it's a steal and frankly I'm a little bit jealous and afraid of how Manchester United will start to play from the new year. 'Consultant' is a wide term, but I'm suspecting Rangnick will settle in to the Red Devils' hierarchy and maybe take a Director of Football role, which would be absolutely perfect for the club.

Firstly, with such a legend of the game employed in Manchester, it'll undoubtedly be easier for United to attract the big managerial names who may have been reluctant to be pulled away from their current projects. One such name, Eric Ten Hag of Ajax, who before has reiterated his love for Ajax and the current setup he has, will now perhaps reconsider staying in Amsterdam and seek a move away. I think Ten Hag is the perfect fit for United out of the whole bunch, given what he's accomplished at Ajax.

Secondly, Rangnick will get United playing some real tactical football. Ragnick is regarded as father of the intense press, or 'gegenpress', and is idolised as well as inspired by some of the current big names in the league, mainly Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea. A tactical shakeup is just what the team needs and there's no better man to start shaking than the 'professor' himself.

And also, the Premier League list of managers has become even more legendary. Klopp, Guardiola, Rangnick, Tuchel, Conte, Bielsa, Benitez, Ranieri, the list goes on.

Basically, I'm really excited and also really scared.
